There is some glitch at Yahoo! I was able to get in twice this morning but not the same way each time and never through the main log in page. Try a Yahoo! sign if from another Country or through Groups.

Anyway, Type mail.yahoo.ca I tried it and it popped right up (my mail that is) ... Apparently the US version of yahoo is not working but all other countries do work.

This issue is now resolved. I spoke with the Yahoo! customer care team a short time ago. There was a glitch in the notification system causing mail alerts/notifications through My Yahoo!, Yahoo! Toolbar, and Yahoo! Messenger to not function properly. This glitch sent alerts of new emails to people that did not have emails. It also did not notify/alert people when they did have email. The problem started yesterday morning (July 19th, 2006) and went through until just a few moments ago. However, as stated, it is fixed now.
Reply:It seems Yahoo has a major glitch in its new versions released the other week. Many people are no longer getting email notification, even though their preference settings are still correct.
I tried everything -- uninstalling, installing a different version, doing a system restore on Window XP... all to no avail. It's obviously a Yahoo problem.

outages. I doubt if some or all Yahoo Mail functions work at all.
Wait up to 30 days when all updates are complete. Yahoo Mail is not just one server.
Each Server gets all updates by sometimes taking it off the air. ( Have you ever put an
operating system on a PC? Sort off like that but bigger.)
Then having to transfer each an every file back to all accounts.

To close your Windows Live account:
Go to https://login.live.com/
Then sign in
Then on the left click settings
Then on the right click close your account (under common tasks)
Type your password and click yes
Then your account will be closed

I am the person on Yahoo Answers who has a Smiley as a avatar, and Chinese traditional words under it. I had about 42 fans, and I was on level 6 since yesterday with about 10,000 some points.
I cannot log onto my messenger, and i cannot log into my email.
I am typing the same password, and I try to go to the security page where i can enter my information, but it just asks me if I ever used a credit card on Yahoo,and when I put no, it says something about they cant do anything else to help out.
I believe I still remewmber my security information but I cannot find the page.

I want to be able to clear out a bunch of user IDs that I no longer want to have contact with. I have deleted them from my friends list and from my address book but they still appear in the drop down box on my messenger.

the only way I know of is clearing the entire list (rather than individual ID's listed) is to pop into your Yahoo! Cache directory located at....
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Cache
you can delete the entire contents of the Cache folder (which will remove it) or you can delete just the conversation history list.
it's going to depend on if you have logged in using one default ID or mutilple ID's, if one then there will be one file, if multiple, then there will be multiple files... one for each ID you have used
the file you need to delete will look something like...
Ex4PoBU5oaXdyQjk0tQ_FQ--
.conversationhistory.xml
the...
"Ex4PoBU5oaXdyQjk0tQ_FQ" part will be completely different though, so just look for any / all files ending with... conversationhistory.xml

my husband was talking on messenger and the person who he was talking to has got everyone on his buddylist and sent picture that doesn't need to be sent we need to change his password and anything else anybody can tell me plz....

If you mean just change your Yahoo username, yes.
Just go into Your Profile - At the top right - Or click on your avatar, then click on "Edit my Info"..
After that, just change your nick! Remember to check and hit 'Save'.
People do it all the time. It won't affect your other services. :)

I use YIM to notify me when I have new email, this has worked wonderfully for the past few years. Suddenly last week it does not work anymore. I have both downloaded new versions, and even tried another computer. So I think it has something to do with my mailbox or something about my yahoo account. I have attempted to install Messenger, I received an error:
Download of file has been cancelled or interrupted - 404 Not Found, Retry did nohing, I aborted. Uninstalled the failed install-rebooted and tried again. I got the same error and had to abort. I turned off my Firewall on the second attempt.
What do I do?

Reply:The default settings for yahoo messenger are set up to give you an alert for both of these, so if you don't hear them I would say that either someone else set it up for you and turned them off or your computer doesn't have sound capability. The correct path for checking is from the tab labelled "messenger" at the top of yahoo messenger then choose "preferences" then choose "alerts and sounds" Make sure there is a tick in the box next to "enable alert sounds". Hope this helps.

A simple method for converting back to the old sounds is to replace the new sounds with the old ones which you can download the previous sounds (.wav files) to replace your existing ones from...

Why does my messenger say that I have 17 unread email messages, but when check my email,they've all been read?
For the past 2 years the amount of messages showing on my msn messenger has been 17+ however many I actually have that are unread. When I go through my messages, I make sure they're all read, however the messenger never goes below 17 messages.

When I logg on Messenger tells me that I have been signed out as I have signed in on a different computer or device. When I have messenger email says that I have been disconnected from chat as I have signed in from another computer or device. I only have the one computer!

Single but involved, living together for almost 2 years. He looks at porn alot, which I don't mind, I will usually sit with him and we look together. But what I do mind is as soon as I go to bed he will log onto his messenger service or check his email. If I happen to get back up and come in the room he minimizes the screen and logs out as soon as he can. He says he isn't doing anything wrong, but I feel that this is suspicious and he is hiding something. There have been a few times I have tried to log into my email and he didn't log out properly and his email was still logged in and when he seen that it was his email, he took the mouse out of my hand and logged out before I could see anything. Every time I get an email an annoying yellow picture of an envelope appears on bottom right of screen. I use yahoo messenger while i play games to communicate. i wouldnt mind if it didnt flicker on during my game. It even minuses some games! frustrating. and the worst part is, when i click the envelope i still have to type in my email and password. some shortcut that is.

If you have the New Yahoo Mail with chat and the desktop Yahoo Messenger, you cannot be signed in to both.

like, I am on my own computer but, I signed into my friends msn.. and usually when i am on my msn, I can click on a person, and click view chat log history, or I can go there from, my documents, but now that I am on her's .. it doesnt show me the conversation that she had with the contacts, how do I see HER chat log history on my computer, not mine ?

You cannot view a chat log unless the chat took place on that computer. It only logs and stores what was mentioned on that computer. You cannot view logs that were made on another computer... those logs will be on the other computer that the account is normally on if the person has it set to log.

If your friend had conversations on your computer and opted to save them, you could view them in your 'recieved files' folder. If not, you're out of luck.

I'm looking for an application that can do following : MSN/Yahoo/ICQ messaging (Skype text messaging would be nice too), POP3 Email support and Browsing. Importantly, all this has to be able to run through HTTP proxy server as well, including Messenger and Email downloads..
It doesn't have to be freeware, but trial would help..
